Medical notes: 'History. Previous history healthy. Information about present illness very scanty. Some 5 or 6 wks [weeks] before admission she was attacked with chilliness and anorexia. She had previously suffered from cough for an unknown period. The appetite never returned, and she got weaker and weaker. She vomited frequently. About the second week of her illness there was diarrhoea for 6 or 7 days: otherwise the bowels were generally costive. She never laid up permanently till admission'
