Medical notes: He contracted a chancre about the beginning of 1884, which was followed by a rash on the body and sore throat. He was admitted here under Mr Holmes on May 13th 1886 with a syphilitic testicle and syphilitic sores on the elbow. He was readmitted on September 22nd for the same thing. Fourteen says before this readmission the legs swelled and he took to his bed.
