Medical notes: 'Patient had been in the hospital seven years before her present admission for acromegaly and, since that time, had been attending regularly as an Out-patient. The hands fat and facial bones had been slowly increasing in size and there had been severe and continuous occipital headache. For some time she had been troubled with cough and had been becoming progressively weaker and thinner. On July 11th she was admitted on the surgical side of the hospital for glands in the neck'
